RECAP : AFRICA FASHION WEEK LONDON 2014
The Africa fashion week 2014 this year has been quite amazing, there has been various African designers from around the world whose collections would be showcased this year. Revealing various unique Africa trends, London’s fashion week which was hosted on the 7th and 9th of August 2014 was an amazing events with collections from over 30 designers which were very inspirational, and innovative with their fabric manipulation, and design development. The African prints and African fabric were so summery and attractive, there were also appearance of various fashion lovers, fashion bloggers, and fashion students. Olivier Rousteing Balmain’s designer recently had an interview with W magazine, he shared his love for fashion and his love for his job which he is so passionate about. Olivier spoke about his preference working with Balmain to when he worked with Cavalli, he said “I loved what he was doing,” “It was more my taste than Cavalli” He also shares with w magazine his journey working with Balmain, his difference and similarities with Christophe Decarnin’s and his vision for Balmain. Rousteing explained his inspiration and decision for his models Rihanna, Iman and Naomi. “These women are inspiring to so many different people,” he says “Bringing them together represents the concept I’m working toward.”

She is the Creative Director of Belois Couture, a brand based in Abuja Nigeria. Belois Couture launched in 2012 as a way to appreciate the modern woman through series of 70s and 80s inspired elegant and youthful pieces.
Wardrobe Inspiration Around the Globe
Some trust in their expensive shoes while others trust in the fact that they can always be inspired by their wardrobes. It’s no surprise that interior decorators, wardrobe stylists and DIY lovers keep ranting about how important it is to have a wardrobe that inspires. One thing for sure is that, we have a plethora of inspiration on the internet when it comes to how-to arrange our closets. A little inspiration won’t hurt, however, when you are in doubt about how to start, I would highly recommend that you hire a wardrobe stylist or at least an interior decorator with an eye for fashion.
We’ve been inspired by how fashion lovers around the globe arrange their closets and we would definitely love to share. While getting our daily inspiration, we stumbled upon the Pinetest board of Drop Dead Gorgeous Daily Blog and couldn’t withdraw our fashion jaws from their Wardrobe Envy page.
Bello Edu Spring/Summer 2014 Collection
Upcoming Ghanaian brand, Bello Edu released its Spring/Summer 2014 Collection titled “The Bloom”. The lookbook was shot by Esinam Sokpor as the pretty-faced model Soraya Khalil rocked different outfits from the collection. The collection indeed blooms in various trendy ways as we can clearly notice a wide range of trends including crop tops, lace, florals, cut outs and more, all exhibited in subtle and bold colors.

When it comes to African Fashion, we can always look to brands such as Chichia London and Duro Olowu for inspiration. They stay dedicated to the African print ‘cult’ while giving us unique pieces which we can use for different seasons.
The Chichia London brand released two collections for their Spring/Summer 2014 lookbook. The ready to wear (RTW) made in Tanzania designs which takes us back to a fun yet chic fashion concept. According to the designer, “the 2014 mini collection titled ‘Reminisce’ recalls a sometimes forgotten time; ones childhood. The collection focuses on the idea of being grown up but still wanting to have fun in clothes and dressing up to feel happy, channeling a youthful innocence.”

The 44 year old artist, Jennifer Lopez keeps looking hotter and flattering in whatever she wears.
